Initiatives
by the Health Commission on Health Education
1.
A book “The Comprehensive School Health Programme: An Overview;
Methodology; Suggested Curriculum” was prepared by a team
of experts. This curriculum is a `model guide book’ which
can be adopted by Dioceses, Religious and Health-related associations.
It is hoped that this initiative will go a long way in introducing
School Health Education in our country.
2.
As are result of the demands received from different educational
institutions, the Health Commission brought out, “Prevention
of HIV/AIDS, A Text Book for Schools” which can be used
by our schools as well as other institutions for training purposes
of health care providers, social workers, etc. The book has been
translated into Hindi for the benefit of the Hindi speaking students
and health care providers.
3.
Programmes of `Training of Trainers’ on School Health Education
were conducted in different regions of the country, such as in
Schillong in the North East, New Delhi, Cochin in Kerala and the
last one in Bhagalpur in Bihar in February 2003.
