Millions of Indian children start working when they are four. Child workers toil for 12 hours at a stretch every day. Many child workers get a salary of just Rs 90 per month. 18 percent of Delhi's children do hard labour to live. Of the 45,000 children working in the Sivakasi match factories in Tamil Nadu, nearly 90 percent are girls under 14. How does a country which can't find jobs for 36 million adults find jobs for over 50 million child workers?
